If you’re like most people, you probably don’t know too much about windshield damage. What are the different types of damage that can occur? How serious is it? And most importantly, can it be repaired?

We are here to answer all of your questions. Keep reading to learn about the different types of damage that can occur, how to tell if your windshield needs to be repaired or replaced, and how windshield repair works.

What are the types of windshield damage?

There are three main types of windshield damage:

  • Chips: Chips are small pieces of glass that have been chipped off by a rock or other object. They are usually no more than a few millimeters in size and can usually be repaired without replacing the entire windshield.
  • Cracks: Cracks are cracks in the glass that can range from a few millimeters to a few inches in length.
  • Breaks: Breaks are complete breaks in the glass, and usually require a full replacement.

Why is it important to repair damage to my windshield?

There are a few reasons why it’s important to repair a crack in your windshield. First, if the crack is left unrepaired, it will continue to grow and can eventually cause the entire windshield to shatter. Secondly, a cracked windshield can impair your vision while driving, which can lead to accidents. Finally, repairing a crack is much cheaper than replacing an entire windshield!

What causes the damage to worsen?

Small chips and cracks can quickly turn into larger problems if not repaired quickly.

Temperature and climate can determine how quickly the damage will spread. Cold temperatures cause the glass to contract. If your windshield is cracked or chipped, the added pressure can cause further damage. The sun can also make the crack or chip worse, as it can increase the temperature of the windshield, causing the crack or chip to expand.

How does windshield repair work?

Windshield repair is a process whereby a technician injects a resin into the chip or crack in order to fill it and prevent it from spreading. The resin is then cured with UV light or heat, and the repair is complete! The entire process usually takes less than 30 minutes.

How do I know if my windshield needs to be replaced?

If you have a chip or crack in your windshield, you’ll need to decide whether to repair or replace it. If the chip or crack is less than a few inches in length, then it can usually be repaired. However, if the damage is more severe, then you’ll need to replace the entire windshield

How much does it cost to repair a windshield?

The cost of repairing a windshield depends on the severity of the damage. For small chips and cracks, the repair can cost as little as $50. However, if the damage is more severe, then the replacement can cost more.
