In October 2025, my wife and I experienced firsthand how quickly everything can change. We were driving through an intersection with a green light when another driver ran a red light and struck our vehicle. The impact was severe enough that both cars were totaled. Emergency services were called immediately, and in a matter of moments, we went from running errands to sitting in an ambulance, shaken, injured, and trying to process what had just happened.

Beyond the physical pain, there was a deep sense of shock and disbelief. I remember the panic, the confusion, and the overwhelming feeling of losing control in an instant. We spent time in the ambulance and later in the emergency room, sharing that space with the other driver involved in the accident. It was a strange and humbling experience that reminded me how quickly lives can intersect during traumatic moments, and how accidents affect real people on every side. We were dealing with bruised ribs and lingering neck, back, and hip pain, but the emotional impact stayed with us just as strongly.

Losing our car was also devastating. Our vehicle, who we lovingly referred to as Scarlett, was more than just something that got us from place to place. It was something we were proud of and took great care of, and it represented years of hard work and responsibility. Seeing it destroyed in an instant added another layer of loss to an already overwhelming situation. It may sound small compared to physical injuries, but anyone who has been through a serious accident understands how attached you can become to the vehicle that carries your family and keeps you safe every day.

That experience reinforced an important truth for me. A car accident does not end when the scene is cleared or when the vehicle is towed away. The physical pain can linger for weeks or months. The emotional stress, anxiety, and fear of getting back behind the wheel often last even longer. Plans get canceled, routines are disrupted, and life feels uncertain in ways you do not expect until you are living through it yourself.

As the owner of Liberty Collision, I have always believed in treating customers with care, honesty, and attention to detail. Going through this did not change our values, but it made their importance even clearer to me. After an accident, people are not just looking for a repair shop. They are looking for someone they can trust when they feel vulnerable and unsure about what comes next.

That is why we take the time to listen, explain options clearly, and make thoughtful repair recommendations based on what is truly right for each person and their situation. We never cut corners, because we know that behind every repair is a person or family counting on that vehicle to protect them. Our goal has always been to repair vehicles properly, but just as importantly, to help people feel safe and confident when they return to the road.

Going through this experience reminded me that our work is about more than fixing cars. It is about helping people through some of the most stressful moments of their lives and giving them peace of mind when they need it most. Having lived through it ourselves, we carry a deep empathy for every person who walks through our doors, and we are committed to supporting them in every way we can. That understanding is something we carry into every repair, every conversation, and every recommendation we make at Liberty Collision.
