holiday safety driving tips

Happy Holidays from everyone at Liberty Collision! The last thing we want for you and your family during the holiday season is for an accident to happen. But unfortunately with bad weather, snow on the roads, extra people on the road traveling, and lots of distractions, accidents do happen. Your safety is our number one priority, always. We want to help keep you safe during the holiday season, here are some holiday safety driving tips.

  • Avoid Distracted Driving: whether its from your cellphone, eating/drinking, looking at the pretty scenery, the kids yelling in the back, do your best to not let it distract you. If you need to pull over, pull over! Being a little late is always better than not showing up at all.
  • Prepare your vehicle for winter: these are not services we provide at Liberty Collision, but it’s important to keep your vehicle in good condition. Make sure you have proper snow tires especially for us in the Reno-Tahoe region, make sure your heater is working properly, have chains handy, and keep blankets and safety equipment in your car in case you are stranded in the snow.
  • Watch your surroundings: this can also fall under avoid distracted driving. But with more people traveling for the holidays, the roads being icy, and people rushing to get their last minute Christmas gifts you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled. On top of that, many people are attending holiday parties which means there will be more drunk drivers on the road. Watch your surroundings to keep you and your family safe!
  • If you’re tired, don’t drive: again, getting to your location late is better than not getting there at all. If you’re trying to get to your family’s late at night but are having a hard time keeping your eyes open, just pull over! When you’re tired, more mistakes are made and sometimes a mistake can cause a life. Trust us, your family will want you there safe rather than late.

Sometimes when collisions happen, it’s not your fault, but if we all do our part to be a little better, hopefully that means less crashes. If you do find yourself in a collision, call us! If your vehicle isn’t drivable we can help you get it to our shop. Stay safe out there this holiday season and enjoy your time with loved ones.
